Stubb's Government appointed

On Tuesday 24 June, the President of the Republic appointed Finland’s 73rd Government. At the same time, the President of the Republic released the ministers of Jyrki Katainen’s Government from their duties.

The Government headed by Prime Minister Alexander Stubb consists of 17 ministers. The National Coalition Party and the Social Democratic Party have six ministerial posts each, the Green League and the Swedish People's Party both have two ministers while the Christian Democrats have one minister.

On Tuesday 24 June, the Government submitted a statement to Parliament on Stubb's Government Programme and made decisions on the division of responsibilities between ministers, the members of the statutory Cabinet Committees and their deputies and the deputies for the ministers. The Minister of Finance, Antti Rinne, was appointed as the minister deputising for the Prime Minister.

The swearing-in of Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Lenita Toivakka, Minister of Social Affairs and Health Laura Räty and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Petteri Orpo took place during the Government session.

Olli-Pekka Heinonen was appointed as State Secretary to the Prime Minister.
