Finland’s Permanent Representation to the European Union plays a key role in the execution of Finland’s EU policy. The Permanent Representation to the EU represents Finland in negotiations that take place in the Council of the European Union.
The Permanent Representation represents the Finnish state administration as a whole employing civil servants from every Finnish Ministry. The Representation with around a hundred employees operates under the umbrella of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.
The Permanent Representation is led by Finland’s Permanent Representative to the European Union, Ambassador Pilvi-Sisko Vierros-Villeneuve. Marianne Huusko-Lamponen acts as the Deputy Permanent Representative. They represent Finland in the preparatory body of the Council of the European Union, Coreper.
Finland's representative at the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is ambassador Piritta Asunmaa. At the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) Finland is represented by the Major General Markku Nikkilä.
